Please inform us of any health or behavioural concerns before your visit. For hygiene and comfort, the vulva area is recommended to be trimmed or lightly shaved prior to mating for sanitisation purposes. If your dog has been groomed close to the mating date, please don’t apply any perfumes or scented sprays, as strong fragrances can distract stud dog and interfere with natural mating behaviour.
Our fee includes two mating sessions, health documents and pedigree papers, and a free return mating if needed. (conditions apply).
- Natural mating involves direct interaction between the stud and the female dog under supervision.
Artificial insemination (AI) involves collecting semen from Loki and inserting it into the female at a veterinary clinic. AI is ideal for first-time or nervous females, or when natural mating isn’t physically possible.
Ideally, you should contact us as soon as your female comes into season (starts bleeding). This gives time to:
Monitor her cycle
Schedule progesterone testing if needed
Arrange the best timing for mating or AI
Yes! We can refer you to local vets for progesterone testing, and we’re happy to assist in interpreting results to find the optimal mating window.
While Loki is excellent with natural matings and very driven, a tie depends on the right timing, the female being in her true standing heat, proper positioning, and the mating completing fully. If any of these factors are slightly off on the day, a tie may not occur.
When this happens, we offer a second mating session within the optimal fertile window and will attempt again. Two mating sessions are included in our stud service. Although a second tie isn’t guaranteed, it is a bonus that may help support pregnancy success and maximise litter potential.
If natural mating is not possible, we can also assist with artificial insemination (AI) through one of our trusted local veterinary clinics to help achieve the best possible outcome.
You’re welcome to stay and observe the session, or wait nearby. We provide a calm, supervised environment to reduce stress for both dogs.
